Antony today sought to put the lid on the controversy over his
recent meeting with the chief justice of the Kerala High Court
J L Gupta, saying that there was no 'secrecy' about the
meeting.
Opposition party leaders in the state had alleged that
Antony had held a "secret" meeting with Chief Justice J L
Gupta.
Dismissing the opposition criticism, Antony told reporters after a cabinet meeting that there was nothing unusual or secretive about his meeting with Chief Justice Gupta and such meetings were "not a new thing".
"I went to meet the Chief Justice in the state car and with police escort", he said, adding controversy over the meeting was unnecessary.
"This is not the first time that I met the Chief Justice. I had met the Chief Justice during my earlier tenure as Chief Minister also," Antony said.
