Kolkata, Aug 03: Continuing her tirade against railway minister Nitish Kumar, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today accused him of misleading the people of West Bengal by claiming to speed up railway projects in the state. Speaking on the concluding day of the two-day dharna in protest against the eastern railway bifurcation, the TC chief said she had herself initiated the projects in West Bengal as Kumar's predecessor.

"The railway minister is trying to assuage public outrage in West Bengal over the Eastern Railway bifurcation with promises to speed up projects in the state. But it was I who initiated the projects and allotted funds for them during my tenure as railway minister," she said.

Stating that during her tenure as railway minister she had allotted Rs 400 crore for the metro railway extension project from Tollygunj to Garia, Banerjee asked "where has the money gone? Whatever was sanctioned has been taken home." Claiming that she knew 'many things,' which she was not making public at the moment owing to 'ethical reasons,' the TC chief, however, warned that she would disclose 'everything' if required.
