Patna, Oct 14: Central Industrial Security Force
(CISF), providing security at 47 national and international
airports in the country, has identified some sensitive
airports and specialised security drill is being carried out
there as part of anti-hijacking measures, CISF Director
General K M Singh said today.
All metro airports besides those at Hyderabad, Jaipur,
Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, Patna, Gaya and Ranchi have been
identified as sensitive airports and specially trained CISF
personnel have been deployed there and comprehensive security
drills are being carried out at these airports, Singh told
reporters here.
The CISF DG said besides meticulous screening of baggage, even those of VIPs, intelligence wing officials have been deployed at the airports, particularly identified as sensitive.
The CISF will take up the job of providing security at 11 more airports including those in Jammu and Kashmir in phases after completion of specialised training of the required number of CISF personnel, he said.
Describing the security of Patna airport as inadequate, the CISF DG highlighted lower height of boundary wall, unchecked movement of people through the state hangar located adjacent to the Jayaprakash Narayan Airport and lack of proper frisking of labourers employed at the airport.
"I highlighted the lacunae to my officers and also talked to Bihar DGP D P Ojha on the security scenario at Patna airport. Will also speak to Civil Aviation Minister for taking some corrective measures at Patna airport", Singh added.
