New Delhi, Feb 14: Congress and BJP today submitted their suggestions to the Delimitation Commission on the proposed change in the boundaries of parliamentary constituencies with BJP opposed to any major changes in the character of Lok Sabha constituencies. While Congress suggested two minor changes to avoid dominance of any caste in a particular segment, BJP favoured retaining the traditional character of the constituencies. "We have suggested that Model Town be deleted from the north-west parliamentary constituency and be replaced by Chandni Chowk assembly segment in central parliamentary constituency. This is to avoid caste dominance in the constituencies," said a Congress sources. BJP sources said the party was not in favour of changes in the allocation of assembly constituencies as it would affect the candidate who has nursed the area for long. It also favoured retaining the rural character of a constituency by not merging it with urban, sources said. Meanwhile, commission sources said it will take a final view in the matter on February 25 when it will hold another meeting with the associate members.
