Paris, Sept 03: A dancing marathon got under way in Paris, organised by electronic components builder TDK, to coincide with the World Athletics Championships currently taking place in the French capital. For three days, nightclub lovers are challenged to dance the night away and get a chance to win a trip for two to Ibiza. Competitors must visit seven of the hypest clubs in Paris each night, and dance a certain amount of time at each.
Their arrival and departure are entered into a "passport", to keep a log of their activities. Only those who have fulfilled the requested schedule will be able to take part in the draw that will decide on the winner.
"The idea, the whole thing about it, is to go to all the clubs over three days, to seven clubs, and at the end there's a little draw and the prize is a trip to Ibiza to relax with Paul Oakenfield. So there's the connection again, with dance music, to chill out at the Pacha Club," said TDK Marketing Communications Manager Andrew Burrows. Some of the best European DJ's have been invited to run the show in each of the participating nightclubs. The sessions are divided into "befores", "party-times" and "afters".
With three nights to fill up with music, the rhythms will be varied enough to cater to all tastes: Afro, breakbeat, funk, disco, minimal, soul, experimental, acid, alternative, you name it: everything seems to be on the menu. "There's a huge number of people, everyone's come to meet up, all the clubbers are here. It's complete madness, we're going to have a great time. It's the beginning of the big TDK dance marathon. There are still two evenings to come. It's a truly European event, the event of the summer," said TDK Sponsor and Events Manager Sophie Bonnot. Bureau Report
