Jammu, July 21: Another batch of 3423 pilgrims left here today for the cave shrine of Amarnath despite rains in the region. The batch comprising 2531 men, 553 women, 55 children and 284 sadhus left from M A M Stadium around 0700 hours, officials said.
The devotees left in a fleet of 187 vehicles, including 60 buses, under security escort, officials said, adding Jammu-Srinagar Highway was clear despite rains along the arterial road.
Reports from Srinagar said more than 94,000 yatris had reached Kashmir Valley in connection with the holy pilgrimage. Of these about 84,000 had performed darshan of holy ice lingum of Lord Shiva in the cave shrine till last evening.
Meanwhile, Jammu Yatri Bhavan has started a community kitchen for Amarnath devotees and sadhus which will provide meals to the yatris at Mahajan Sabha Community Hall here from today till the conclusion of pilgrimage.
