Srinagar, June 11: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers' Party, an active partner in the state's coalition government, today expressed concern over the lack of security to its leaders and demanded facilities at par with PDP and Congress leaders. "I regret government's attitude towards Panthers Party activists by refusing them security or withdrawing and leaving them on the mercy of terrorists, JKNPP chief Bhim Singh, said. In a statement here, he said JKNPP leaders had played a prominent role in reviving the political process in the state.
He demanded the government to immediately provide security cover for the state, provincial office bearers, district presidents and general secretaries of the party. "It is essential to provide security to the party leaders at par with others," he said adding "non-entities" in PDP and Congress have been extended all facilities including security.
Singh said all the recognised parties -- whether in the coalition or in the opposition -- should be treated at par as far as security was concerned. Bureau Report
