Bush, Ranil likely to meet
Colombo, Nov 04: Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and US President George W Bush are likely to meet at White House today to discuss bilateral cooperation and ongoing peace process in the island nation, the US Embassy here said.
Colombo, Nov 04: Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and US President George W Bush are likely to meet at White House today to discuss bilateral cooperation and ongoing peace process in the island nation, the US Embassy here said.
"The President and the Prime Minister will review the status of the peace process in Sri Lanka, and discuss bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international developments," the statement said.
Wickremesinghe visited the White House in July last year before his government and Tamil Tiger rebels opened Norwegian-brokered peace talks in September last year.
The US has stepped up its political, economic and military cooperation with the country in recent years and is strongly supportive of the Norwegian-backed attempts to end the island's drawn out ethnic bloodshed. Bureau Report
