``When I took the mouse in my hand, I was in a different world all together,`` the veteran actor Shammi Kapoor says of the magic world of computers which made him give up smoking. ``The magic of computer made me give up smoking,`` he said in his valedictory address at the Nasscom on Sunday. ``I was a chain smoker and would smoke at least 100 cigarettes a day. But when I took the mouse in my hand, I was in a different world all together``. He said that computers had given him the peace of mind and an addiction to know the world, “It made me feel good that I know some thing else apart from acting, he added. ``I am hooked on the PC for at least four to five hours a day chatting with my friends and grandchildren. Earlier I was there for 14 hours``, he recalled.
Kapoor is a member of the Internet users club.
