Another top police officer questioned in stamp paper scam
Mumbai, Dec 07: A top officer of the Mumbai Police was today questioned again by the special investigating team probing the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam.
Mumbai, Dec 07: A top officer of the Mumbai Police was today questioned again by the special investigating team probing the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam.
Pradip Sawant, DCP, Special Branch, was quizzed for three hours by S S Puri, SIT chief, at its Worli office.
Sawant had been questioned earlier by the SIT thrice in Pune.
SIT had a few days ago arrested R B Yenam, ACP Navi Mumbai, who was attached to Dharavi unit of Mumbai Police, under DCP Pradip Sawant when the case was registered against the prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi in 1995.
Sawant was questioned on alleged lapses in this probe, SIT sources said.
SIT is also probing the alleged role of Sawant into allegations of transfer of police officials at the instance of Telgi.
According to SIT, the constable had influenced T K Chaudhary, now DGP, CID, Pune, to transfer the officials.
At the relevant time, Pradip Sawant was DCP and he was today questioned on these lines, SIT sources said.
Sawant was allowed to go after questioning.
