Basti(UP), May 31: Peeved at the "Muslim appeasement" policy of the BJP ahead of the coming assembly elections, senior VHP leader Ashok Singhal has said the saffron party would face "total rout" in the Parliamentary polls if it continued with its policy. The Muslim appeasement policy adopted by the BJP could prove to be "detrimental". "The party could face total rout in the Lok Sabha elections," he told reporters here last night. Stating that Haj pilgrims are being provided maximum possible facilities and financial assistance, he said "BJP was trying to please Muslims in the name of secularism".

He alleged that Hindu pilgrims on Mansarovar Yatra and other 'Tirth Yatras' get no help from the government and demanded that they also be extended similar facilities.

The VHP leader sought an inquiry into the sources of income of Madrasas on the Indo-Nepal border from where anti-national activities were allegedly being carried out.

Singhal, a strong votary of ram temple in Ayodhya, however, evaded all questions regarding the temple movement.
