New Delhi, Aug 05: The southern swing of the 2003-04 Indian PGA tour will commence in the second week of August at Coimbatore with the Cotton city Open 2003. The Cotton City Open, to be played from August 13 to 16, is the first of five tournaments to be played in three different cities spread over two states.
The total prize purse on offer over the five weeks stands at an impressive Rs 42.5 lakhs.
The season commenced with the Rs 18-lakh Kashmir Open in July at the picturesque Royal Springs golf course in Srinagar, which was won by top ranked Asian PGA tour golfer Jyoti Randhawa.
The Cotton City Open, a Rs 8.5 lakh event, will be followed by the Rs 10-lakh TNGF Open in Chennai scheduled from August 20 to 23.
The Hero Honda Open South, the first of three tournaments to be sponsored by Hero Honda, will be played from August 26 to 29. The tour then returns to Chennai for the final two legs of the southern swing. The Madras Gymkhana Club will host the Rs 7-lakh Hyundai-MGC open from September 3 to 6 with the pro-am on September 7 bringing the curtain down on the event.
The tour then revisits the Cosmo-TNGF golf course for the Rs 7-lakh Hindu Open, to take place from September 10 to 13.
