Arroyo: Government has evidence to trace brains of mutiny
Manila, Aug 04: Evidence gathered by government investigators could help identify everyone involved in last week`s failed mutiny, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said today.

She did not provide details, but investigators have said they were tracking down civilians on suspicion of helping finance and organize the July 27 uprising by more than 350 military officers and enlisted men.
The mutineers seized an upscale shopping and apartment complex in Manila's financial hub and demanded the resignation of Arroyo and other top officials. They gave up 19 hours later.
At least one ex-cabinet member and close aide of deposed president Joseph Estrada has been arrested and charged with rebellion. Interior secretary Jose Lina said charges were being prepared against opposition Sen. Gregorio "gringo" Honasan, who has denied any role in the mutiny but has gone into hiding to avoid arrest.
"The investigation is now in an advanced stage and will soon account for all those involved,'' Arroyo said in a written statement. ``The evidence is mounting and is substantial and solid.''
Arroyo said she may be able to lift a state of rebellion which allows arrest without warrant of any suspected conspirator earlier than expected. She did not give a date.
There have been concerns that the decree could further scare investors and tourists the stock market fell 3 per cent today.
