Ivanov to visit Pak tomorrow
Islamabad, June 14: Indo-Pak peace initiative, international terrorism and situation in Iraq and Afghanistan are expected to dominate the agenda of Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov`s visit here tomorrow.
Islamabad, June 14: Indo-Pak peace initiative, international terrorism and situation in Iraq and Afghanistan are expected to dominate the agenda of Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov's visit here tomorrow.
Talks between Ivanov and his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri are expected to cover a range of issues including bilateral relations and recent thaw in Indo-Pak relations, foreign office spokesman Masood Khan said.
On the bilateral front, the talks would focus on improving economic ties between the two countries, he said.
During his one-day visit, Ivanov is also expected to take up the issue of cross-border terrorism with Pakistani officials.
In the backdrop of reports of revival of Taliban attacks on afghan forces and in the light of efforts by us to rope in several countries, including Pakistan to commit troops in Baghdad, the two sides will discuss the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Before he leaves for India, Ivanov would call on Musharraf to discuss a wide range of issues, officials here said.
In order to improve Pakistan's relations with Russia, Musharraf made a visit to Moscow last year.
During the visit, Musharraf argued that Pakistan could improve its ties with Russia despite very close India-Russian relations.
