Indore, Oct 28: The Election Commission has directed all district election officers to provide copy of the affidavit to be filed by candidates along with nomination form to the media free of cost and also display them on the notice board of the election office. The commission, following a ruling by the Supreme Court on filing of affidavits, candidates' assets, criminal record and educational qualification among others, has directed that copies of the same be provided to print and electronic media free of cost and also displayed on the notice board of the election office, deputy election officer K R Jain told reporters here. The EC directed to provide copy of the affidavit on payment to other interested persons, Jain said adding, the EC also directed that if a candidate provides information in an affidavit about the opposition candidate, other than the one given in the affidavit filed with the nomination by the first candidate, then it should also be displayed on the notice board. The candidate has to furnish separate information with regard to his/her criminal record in the nomination form and the same should also be displayed on the notice board, the EC has directed, adding that the copy of affidavit should be e-mailed by the concerned officer everyday to the state election office.
The filing of nomination for the December one assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh would begin on November 7-14. The scrutiny would be done on November 15 and the last date of withdrawal of Pepers would be November 16.
