New Delhi, July 08: Irked over the Muslim personal law board`s rejection of the Kanchi Seer`s proposal to solve the vexed Ayodhya issue, VHP today threatened to launch a massive agitation to force the government to either bring in a legislation to facilitate temple construction or step down. "The government should either bring in a legislation or quit. If necessary, a massive movement would be launched," VHP senior vice-president Acharya Giriraj Kishore told reporters here.

Asked whether VHP wanted the entire government to quit or wanted only the prime minister to step down, he said, "We are dissatisfied with the entire government. We will only tell the head (of the government) to quit."

To a question whether VHP favoured Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani assuming the leadership, Kishore said, "Advani took the movement forward but now he is not doing anything." On the BJP`s plea that it lacked sufficient numbers to bring in a legislation declaring both the disputed and undisputed land in Ayodhya as `Ram Janambhoomi` as desired by VHP, he said, "they could do it the way they passed Pota (by calling a joint session)."

He announced that the high-powered panel of the Ram Mandir Nirman Andolan Samiti would meet here on July 11 to decide on the future course of action.

Kishore said that VHP would reach out to two lakh villages across the country from July 13 to October two and tie `Sankalp sutras` (resolution bracelets) among people to create a conducive atmosphere for the construction of the Ram Temple.
