New Delhi, Aug 04: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd today said it has bagged a Rs 400 crore order from Hindustan Zinc Ltd for setting up a captive power plant at its Chittorgarh plant in Rajasthan.
Outbidding several domestic and international equipment
suppliers, state-run BHEL won the order for a 154 mw captive
power plant at HZL's upcoming Chanderia lead zinc smelter
plant at Chittorgarh, the company said in a statement here.
The first of the two 77 mw units would be commissioned in 18 months while the second would be completed in 21 months.
BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, erection, testing and commissioning of the power plant. Major equipment to be supplied include two numbers each of 77 MW steam turbine generators and pulverised fuel fired boilers with state-of-the-art controls and instrumentation, associated auxiliaries and balance of plant equipment.
While the steam turbine generators would be manufactured at BHEL's Hyderabad plant, the boilers would be manufactured at its Trichy plant. BHEL's electronics division, Bangalore, will supply the control system and the auxiliaries will be supplied by its Ranipet plant.
The erection and commissioning of the equipment will be carried out by the company's power sector, western region, Nagpur, the release added.
