The Mayawati ministry in Uttar Pradesh will be expanded by the second week of June, Kalraj Misra, president of state BJP, a key partner in the alliance government, said on Tuesday. The Chief Minister would expand the ministry in the first or second week of June, Misra told newspersons.
He said the newly-formed alliance between Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Kranti Party led by former chief minister Kalyan Singh uniting the backwards would deepen the rift in society.
Pointing out that coming together of SP and RKP was prompted by the political compulsion to counter BSP-BJP tie-up, Misra said SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Kalyan Singh, who had for long remained each other's bitter critics, have now joined hands for petty gains. Misra said he was confident that BSP-BJP alliance would do well in the coming by bypolls to three state assembly and one Lok Sabha seats slated for May 31 next.
The response to the joint election meetings of both the parties had been very good and the alliance would emerge victorious in all the four seats, Misra said.
