Mayawati reinstates suspended DIGs
Lucknow, Dec 29: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today reinstated DIGs of Vindhayachal and Kanpur, who were suspended during her recent review meetings, after the officials assured her of improvement in law and order situation in their respective divisions in accordance with her directives.

DIG Vindhyachal K L Meena and DIG Kanpur Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar were suspended recently by Mayawati for their failure to maintain law and order in their ranges.
Meena and Bhatnagar met the Chief Minister yesterday and admitted in writing that their work was not upto the mark as found by the chief minister in her recent review meetings, an official release said.
The officials admitted that they had not followed the Chief Minister's directives and pleaded that if they were reinstated, they would do so in letter and spirit, the release said adding "after considering their assurances sympathetically the chief minister ordered that both the officials be reinstated."
