New Delhi, July 01: Rejecting as "impractical" the suggestion for dual-feed from July 15, cable operators today threatened that cable TV subscription rates would be around Rs 500 for those who do not opt to access pay channels through set top boxes immediately. As many as 28 programmes and schemes were identified for implementation in the entire northeastern region as part of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 'Agenda for socio-economic development of northeastern states'.
These included border fencing, raising of India reserve batallions for Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram, modernisation of state police forces, a 'peace bonus' for Mizoram, development of border towns and areas and projects under the Bodo Autonomous Council and concessions in the civil aviation sector.
While 17 programmes and schemes for which government approval was required were currently under implementation, action has been completed under seven schemes, they said.
Three more schemes for which official sanction was not required were also under implementation, while the process to accord approval to one scheme has been initiated, the sources said.
