Enhancement of relief for world war ii veterans,
ex-militia personnel and their widows, and payment of
ex-gratia to the soldiers rendered disabled during Kargil
conflict would be discussed at a high-level meeting shortly,
Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma said here.
Besides giving 50 per cent fare concession to war widows in government buses, Sharma also announced a cash assistance of Rs 200,000 for repairs and renovation of the Sainik Sarai and the boys hostel here. Sharma was addressing a function organised by the Sainik welfare department, attended by hundreds of ex-army officers, soldiers and war-widows.
The government would favourably consider the requests from ex-army personnel for reservation in government service, scholarships and uniformity in pay scales of security guards, he added.
Commenting the sacrifices made by the Indian Army, he said it was one of the most disciplined forces in the world, which withstood the test of times.
