Guwahati, June 08: Monsoon has set in the North Eastern region after a brief period of dry spell with most parts of Assam and other areas of the region receiving widespread rains bringing down the temperature.
Director of the Meteorological Centre D Sinha said that the monsoon had hit the region at 22 degrees north and 92 degrees east.

"This year the monsoon was delayed because of circulation of cyclonic winds during May. The winds now have stopped, paving way for a smooth change-over to the rainy season," Sinha said.
Waters of the Jiadhol river, meanwhile, cut off Assam's Dhemaji district from the rest of the state by flooding the national highway at Samarjan. Bureau Report
