Patiala, Oct 11: A local court today extended the police remand of Shamsher Singh, brother of noted singer Daler Mehndi, till October 15 in a case of illegal trafficking of people. Senior sub judge P S Dhanoa extended the police remand of Shamsher who was produced in his court here this afternoon. Police sources said Shamsher, during his extended remand, is expected to be taken to an office of Daler Mehndi in Mumbai where some record is stated to be kept there. The case was registered on the complaint of one Bakshish Singh against Shamsher, his brother Daler Mehndi and three others after he alleged that he had paid them Rs 13 lakh out of the demanded Rs 15 lakh for sending him abroad.
Meanwhile, the Patiala Police has registered another case against Shamsher for allegedly threatening an ASI, who was posted as computer operator, police sources said. Shamsher, they alleged, had asked the ASI Harvinder Singh to delete data found at Daler Mehndi`s office in Delhi.
The total number of complaints filed against the brothers rose to 47 with eight more people submitting their complaints to the Patiala Police alleging that the Mehndi brothers took money for taking them abroad as part of their musical troupe.
