Ropar, Dec 05: Special Judge, Ropar S K Goyal toady adjourned to December nine hearing on bail applications of former Punjab chief minister, Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir in the corruption and disproportionate assets case against them. The hearing on the bail applications started this afternoon for the arguments by the prosecution counsels.
However, the special Public Prosecutor H S Sandhu Sought the adjournment of the hearing till the decision of the special leave petition filed by Harsimrat Badal, the wife of Sukhbir Badal in the Supreme Court.
He said in her petition Harsimrat had challenged the territorial jurisdiction of the Ropar court to take congnizance of the case and had raised questions over the failure on the part of vigilance bureau to procure proper sanction for the prosecution of the accused and failure to hold a preliminary enquiry before the registration of case.
All these matters had already been raised in an application moved by the defence in the Ropar court, he said.
