Tokyo, Sept 18: The Japanese units of software giant Oracle and Dell, the world's largest PC maker, said on Thursday they had agreed to cooperate in promoting their servers and software for corporate customers. As the first step in their tie-up, they have launched a packaged product combining Dell's servers and Oracle's database software. The basic model sells for about 800,000 yen ($6,891).

Although Dell and Oracle cooperate in various fields globally, this is the first time they have launched a packaged product in Japan, a spokesman at Oracle Japan said.
"With this new product, customers don't need to buy software and hardware separately or seek support from separate companies," Hiroaki Kuwahara, executive officer of Oracle Japan, told a news conference.
Oracle Japan is owned 74 per cent by Oracle Corp, the world's second-largest software company.
Oracle Japan and Dell Computer KK plan to launch several other packaged products soon, and Oracle Japan president Masaaki Shintaku said they aimed for annual revenue of more than one billion yen from the sale of the packaged product series in the near future. Bureau Report
