Chennai, Oct 25: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi today found fault with a government order issued by the Jayalalithaa government in connection with introducing scientific Tamil in primary schools. In an epistle to party workers, he pointed out that the go, dated April 21, 2003, said scientific Tamil would be introduced in all schools in the state from standard one to five from academic year 2003-04.
But even several months after re-opening of the schools, there was no sign of teaching scientific Tamil or distribution of books in that subject in any of the schools, the DMK chief claimed.
Even as the go remained on paper, Jayalalithaa, in her independence day address, made the declaration to introduce the subject from the academic year 2003-04. After having stated that the government would introduce it in a phased manner, Jayalalithaa suddenly announced the introduction of the subject in all schools at one stroke, Karunanidhi said.
He congratulated the Pondicherry government for teaching Tamil in all schools.
