Seoul, Oct 30: South Korea's Navy fired warning shots today after a North Korean patrol boat entered waters controlled by the South, the South Korean military said. The North Korean vessel turned back 10 minutes after a South Korean war ship fired four warning shots, a spokesman at the South Korean military's office of Joint Chiefs of Staff.
There were no further hostile exchanges between the two sides, the spokesman said, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.
The North Korean ship sailed 900 meters into waters controlled by the south, he said.
North Korean Navy ships and fishing boats have frequently sailed into South Korean waters in the past months, prompting protests by the South Korean military.
