Islamabad, June 14: Pakistan-based JKLF leader Amanullah Khan has said that declaration of Jammu and Kashmir as a buffer state between India and Pakistan could serve as a roadmap for peace and prosperity in South Asia. Releasing a "roadmap" here yesterday, Khan proposed re-unification of Jammu and Kashmir state in five phases under supervision of an International Kashmir Committee (IKC) and complete independence with democratic, federal and secular system of government, which will have friendly relations with both India and Pakistan.
After 15 years of this unification there will be a free and fair referendum in which Kashmiris would decide, as final settlement of the issue, whether to continue as a free nation or become part of India or Pakistan, the "roadmap" proposes. This solution of Kashmir issue, Khan says, would ensure a peaceful and prosperous future for entire South Asia. Saying that Kashmir is the main cause of Indo-Pak animosity, he said once this issue is solved permanently other problems would also be solved. Bureau Report
