Paris, May 23: Monaco ended their French League season Friday with an encouraging 3-1 away win at Bordeaux just five days ahead of their Champions League final against FC Porto of Portugal.
Didier Deschamps' principality side, who surprised everyone in football by making it to the final of Europe's Premier club competition, were given special permission to play this match a couple of days early in view of Wednesday's final at the Gelsenkirchen Stadium in Germany.
Monaco's win moved them back up to second place, two points ahead of Paris St Germain, who will be hoping to beat Bastia in Corsica today in their bid to claim the second automatic qualifying spot for the Champions League. Lyon effectively won their third consecutive league title last week.
Monaco went a goal down 15 minutes into the first half when their defence missed a cross-goal lob which Bordeaux midfielder Riera latched onto at the edge of the area before sending a simple but precise first-timer past Monaco keeper Flavio Roma at his near post.
However, just ten minutes later Emmanuel Adebayor made his size count, the gangly striker controlling the ball well in at close range before beating Bordeaux's third-choice keeper Matthieu Valverde from a tight angle.

Both teams had ample opportunity to turn chances into goals in an entertaining second half but it was Monaco who made their's count most.
