Ranchi, Feb 12: President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam is arriving here today on his maiden visit to Jharkhand, where he will take part in a number of functions.
The President has, however, cancelled his proposed visit to Bihar.
As per his earlier schedule, the President was to leave here for Patna on the evening of February 13. However, according to the revised schedule, he would now make a night halt here.
On February 13, Dr Kalam would participate in the Ranchi University convocation. He would also address members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly at Raj Bhavan on February 13 in the afternoon.
As per the new schedule, Dr Kalam would interact with about 1,000 students of various schools of the capital town on February 14 instead of February 13. A special ''mandap'' (pandal) is being erected in Raj Bhavan premises for the purpose.
Dr Kalam is expected to return to New Delhi on February 14.
The President will be received at the airport among others by Governor Ved Prakash Marwah, Chief Minister Arjun Munda, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and senior Army officials. Bureau Report
