Lucknow, Aug 25: CBI sleuths probing the Taj heritage corridor scam have questioned the Uttar Pradesh Environment Minister, Naseemudin Siddiqui to ascertain his role in sanctioning the Rs. 175 crore project, CBI sources said today.
The Minister was questioned for about two hours at an undisclosed location here last evening, they said.
Siddiqui, as the Environment Minister dealt with files concerning the project which led to a storm in state politics.
The CBI team sought certain clarifications on the project files from the Minister sources said adding that the agency may probe some other important persons on the basis of information given by Siddiqui who is also a close confidant of Chief Minister, Mayawati.
This is for the first time that the CBI has questioned any political person in the multi-crore scam.



The agency has already grilled the then Environment Secretary, RK Sharma, Chief Secretary of the State, DS Bagga and Principal Secretary Finance, Naveen Chandra Bajpayi.
