Multan (Pakistan), Sept 07: Experienced batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq has replaced banned Rashid Latif as Pakistan captain for the five-match one-day series against Bangladesh starting next week, Pakistan Cricket Board announced today. International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee Mike Procter banned Latif for five one-day games for unfair play during the third and final cricket test against Bangladesh in Multan last week.
Pakistan, who won the test series 3-0, will be playing the first one-day international against Bangladesh in Multan on Tuesday. The other four matches are due in Faisalabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi.
Inzamam, who played a match-winning 138 not out to help Pakistan win the third test by the narrow margin of one wicket, captained Pakistan in New Zealand two years ago.
Pakistan also recalled opener Imran Nazir and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, for the 11th slot. Latif's place will be taken by Kamran Akmal.
Surprisingly experienced batsman Younis Khan was placed among three substitutes while Junaid Zia, son of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Lieutenant General Tauqir Zia, was picked ahead of other several good performers.
