Srinagar, Feb 18: Declaring that Article 370 and Ram mandir are still on the BJP's list of priorities, party president M Venkaiah Naidu today said the coming parliamentary elections would however be fought on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) agenda. Talking to newspersons after addressing a public meeting here this afternoon, Naidu said there is no change in the BJP stand on Article 370, granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir and Ram mandir at Ayodhya.
'We have made our stand clear on these issues to all our alliance partners. But, the elections would be contested only on the NDA agenda.'' he added that ''We cannot impose anything on our alliance partners as unity is the first priority for us,” he said. Talking about the mandir issue, the BJP chief said it has to be resolved by the Hindus and Muslims amicably through talks.
To another question, he said the BJP will not support any move to divide Jammu and Kashmir. ''We are in favour of a united state. However, there are some grievances of Jammu region which should be addressed to. Jammu people should get their due share,'' he added. Naidu also declared that there will be one representative from the Kashmir Valley in the Centre if Atal Bihari Vajpayee is re-elected as the Prime Minister of the country again.
''We have a representative from Jammu in the ministry and I assure you that Kashmir will get its due share in the next ministry,'' he said.
