Cellular operators jubilant over GoM decision
New Delhi, Oct 13: The cellular operators yesterday welcomed the Group of Ministers decision to restrict the WLL services within a local call area while Reliance Infocomm assured its subscribers of continuation of its services as before.

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) director general T V Ramachandran said "we hope the GoM's decision will be implemented immediately.
"We persume that this will be done as advised by Trai-- call forwarding should be stopped and multiple registration not be allowed," he added.
Reacting to the Group of Ministers' decision to enforce TDSAT ruling to restrict the WLL services within local call area, known as Short Distance Charging Area (SDCA), the largest WLL operator Reliance Infocomm said "our services adhere to terms and conditions of the licence."
"Our customers will continue to enjoy the next generation telecom services as before," Reliance Infocomm spokesperson told reporters from Mumbai.
Another cellular operator has welcomed GoM's decision saying "this is a welcome step and we were waiting for this since long."
"We hope that following GoM's decision, the Department of Telecom will implement TDSAT's ruling immediately," the operator said on the condition of anonymity.
The GoM yesterday decided that TDSAT's ruling with regard to restricting WLL services within SDCA would be enforced and all necessary steps in this regard would taken soon.
