Colombo, Nov 07: Sri Lanka President Chandrika Kumaratunga today invited all political parties to form a government of "national reconciliation" after justifying the sacking of three ministers. "I invite all... To form a grand alliance of all patriotic forces and form a government of national reconciliation," she said in a televised address to the nation.
"I stand ready to discuss with all parties, including the Prime Minister."
Kumaratunga said she had taken over the ministries of Defence, Interior and Information as national security had been jeopardised by Prime Minister Wickremesinghe's 21-month-old government. Bureau Report
