Patna, Dec 06: Policemen in Bihar will launch state-wide
agitation from December 15 to protest the transfer of some of the
police personnel and in favour of some other demands.
General secretary of Bihar Policemen's Association Arvind Kumar
Yadav and General Secretary of Bihar Police Association K K Jha said
here today that the police would wear black badges from December 15
to 17 in the first phase of the agitation, while in the second phase
they would proceed on a two-day hunger strike from December 25.
They said a 24-hour dharna would be staged on December 30 in
front of the office of the police superintendent in the district
headquarters, while in the state capital, the police personnel would
sit on dharna before the office of the State Director General of
Police D P Ojha.
Both the leaders demanded withdrawal of the transfer orders of some of the police personnel belonging to the association and labeled serious allegations against Mr Ojha. Complying the orders of Patna High Court, Mr Ojha had earlier transferred some police personnel, including some of the office bearers of both the police associations.
The decision to launch the agitation was taken in a joint meeting of both the associations.
Before proceeding on three-days' mass casual leave starting from January seven, all constables and inspector ranked officers would surrender their official arms and other equipment in the police armoury on January six.
