New Delhi, Dec 26: Taking strong exception to the remarks by Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh on politicians, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu today said "it would lessen his credibility and damage democracy." On Lyngdoh likening politicians to a "cancer" afflicting the body politic of the country, he said "the Election Commissioner is a responsible post and he should attempt to do the job properly. To call politicians cancer is not proper and makes mockery of democracy.

"People will decide who will win and the job of the EC is to conduct elections," he said.

Naidu said that the party believed in healthy meaningful campaign and it would work in that direction.

"Our effort in the coming days would be to achieve success in Lok Sabha polls," he said.
He said that the party has won the semifinals and "in final also we will score a victory."
