London, Oct 05: French striker Frederic Kanoute inspires Tottenham in their 3-0 victory against Everton in the English premier league.
Tottenham caretaker manager David Pleat made it three games unbeaten since Glenn Hoddle was sacked as Everton left Wayne Rooney on the bench until the second half on Saturday (October 4) in London. Everton, without a win over Spurs since 1997, had a good early chance with Steve Watson heading off target but the visitors rarely looked like ending that jinx. The home side took the lead through Frederic Kanoute's superb dipping shot from 30 metres after combining well with Uruguayan midfielder Gustavo Poyet in the 43rd minute. Poyet, the experienced Uuruguayan midifielder, doubled the advantage with a header one minute after the break, following a cross from Darren Anderton.
Anderton was also involved in the tihrd, collecting a pass from Kanoute and findin Robbie Keane in space. David Unsworth failed to clear and the Ireland striker beat Everton goalkeeper Nigel Martyn from close range to seal the 3-0 score in the 49th minute.
The first premier league win as caretaker manager for director of football David Pleat lifted Tottenham to 13th place in the standings, one above Everton.
Match summary: Tottenham Hotspur 3 - Frederic Kanoute 43, Gustavo Poyet 46, Robbie Keane 49 Everton 0 Half time: 1-0 Attendance: 36,137
