Washington, Jan 29: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has displayed a firm commitment to ensure that the country's nuclear assets do not fall into the wrong hands, the US State Department has said.
Welcoming the investigations by the Pakistan government into alleged transfer of nuclear technology to Libya and Iran, Spokesman Richard Boucher yesterday said, ''We've seen a very firm commitment from President Musharraf on making sure that their assets and expertise doesn't fall into the wrong hands, and we now see them conducting an investigation.''
The investigations show how high a priority it is for the Musharraf government to make sure that Pakistan is not cooperating in any way or that Pakistani sensitive nuclear assets don't fall into the wrong hands, he added.
He said the US had supported ''that kind of dialogue ... and encouraged as well.''
