Thiruvananthapuram, July 13: With Chief Minister A K Antony's comments on the minorities continuing to dominate political debate in Kerala, top leaders of the Indian Union Mulsim League (IUML) are expected to meet Congress chief Sonia Gandhi later this week to express the party's resentment over the matter and discuss it's fallout in detail.
According to top IUML sources, AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala, Ahamed Patel, was in touch with the league leadership since yesterday and Sonia Gandhi was likely to meet IUML general secretary E Ahamed and state industries minister K Kunhalikutty on July 16.
Though Kunhalikutty has already left for New Delhi, league sources said that it was a scheduled trip and that he would stay back to meet Sonia for discussions.
Echoing the strong sentiments in the party rank and file and the Muslim community, ahamed said the league had never gained any undue benefit through pressure tactics, but no compromise would be made on the constitutional rights of minorities.
