New Delhi, June 06: Charging the United States with not being sincere on the issue of fighting terrorism, the BJP today said Washington always put its personal and national interests first when tackling the global menace. "The US is double-dealing. They are not sincere in their fight against terrorism and are putting their personal and national interest first", BJP spokesperson V K Malhotra said at a panel discussion chaired by eminent television anchor Karan Thapar on Doordarshan.

He said, when it comes to targeting terrorist activities across the western frontiers of Pakistan (Afghanistan), the US acted swiftly but refrained from taking a firm stand on the cross-border infiltration across its eastern borders (Jammu and Kashmir).

Malhotra said had the US been sincere in eliminating terrorism, it would have targeted Pakistan first as it is the epicentre of terrorism. "They have been promising but unfortunately they are not taking any action", he said.

He said India felt "cheated" by US "inaction" to rein in cross-border terrorism particularly after the assurances given by US Ambassador to India Robert Blackwill during informal parleys.

"Blackwill has told us informally that after Afghanistan, US will target Pakistan and will take action to ensure an end to cross-border terrorism", the BJP leader said.

On Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's forthcoming visit to the US, Malhotra said they expected Washington to tell Islamabad to stop terror exports into Jammu and Kashmir.
