Kolkata, Sep 08: Close on the heels of Bajaj Auto announcing its intention to expand operations in Indonesia, TVS Motor Company Limited (TVS) today said it was in advanced stage of working out details to enter Indonesia and Vietnam by 2004, and China and other Asian countries in the second phase of expansion programme. "We would be entering Indonesia and Vietnam markets by 2004 in the first phase of our expansion outside India and are working out all our products and details for this," TVS vice-president R Chandramouli told news agencies here.

He said that after a proper footage in those two countries, the company would work out schemes to enter china and other Asian countries.
Asked whether they would put up their own plant or enter into tie-up with local companies to market their products, Chandramouli said, "We have not yet decided on these issues and details being worked out would deal with this”.

About the rationale behind expanding operations overseas, he said, "TVS wants to play a significant role in personal care in South East Asia and larger part of Asia. We want to focus in countries with more population and as such have decided to enter these two countries in the first phase”.

There was a market in Indonesia and Vietnam for the kind of products TVS was making for Indian commuters and that synergy encouraged them to enlarge operations, he said.
