New Delhi, July 07: A leading bank union on Monday charged the ICICI bank management with harassing its workers for participating in 21st May industrial strike and threatened to go on strike besides picketing in front of ICICI banks.
The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), in a statement, also alleged that the ICICI Bank management was trying to force VRS on "militant" employees of the erstwhile Bank of Madura which had merged with ICICI bank in 2000.
"Further as a punitive action, the (ICICI) Management imposed deduction in the declared incentive and bonus and transfered employees more than 400-500 km," the AIBEA said.
It said while the writ petition is pending in the Chennai High court challenging the stoppage of 50 per cent of declared incentives and victimisation transfer orders, the management, under the garb of counselling, is pressuring the employees to accept the VRS.
"The AIBEA is contemplating a nation-wide agitation of bank employees including picketing in front of the ICICI branches to counter such moves by the ICICI bank management in restricting the trade union rights of the bank employees", the statement said.
Noting that its affiliate, ICICI Bank Employees Union, participated in the national strike on its call, AIBEA said the management of the bank viewed the strike action as against its philosophy and issued Memo and Show Cause notices to about 1350 employees.
