Mumbai, Nov 22: Tata Consultancy Services will provide software development expertise to US-based Carnegie Mellon University , in the form of donation, to prepare and test software that would allow citizens to use the internet for participating in political process. A software engineer from TCS would work full-time with Carnegie Mellon researchers to build-web system "Delibera", to facilitate online debate and deliberation of public policies through audio and video channels as well as searchable text bulletin boards, TCS said in a release on Friday.

TCS is collaborating with University's Institute for Study of Information Technology and Society (InSITeS) to develop Delibera which is part of $2.1 million Virtual Agora Project, the release said.
"The technology and internet are proving to be vast and untapped resources for organising and conducting political life," InSITeS Executive Director Ronal Gdovic said.
"TCS' long-standing partnership with Carnegie Mellon has proven to be a great resource for both organisations and we are proud to be associated with InSITeS to contribute to a project of social significance," its President ( America ) Arup Gupta said. Bureau Report
