Mumbai, Feb 03: If Baghban was last year's surprise winner, then Khakee is this year's shocking loser. The post-mortem says it's too bright. It was to be Bollywood's third blockbuster after Koi Mil Gaya and Kal Ho Naa Ho . Also beginning with the magical K, Rajkumar Santoshi's testosterone-filled thriller would have completed the triumvirate well.

We have already discounted Boom and LoC , the other two products of the well-oiled hype machinery, since they were ripped apart by the audience and reviewers.

Not Khakee , which got sweeping acclaim. After a good opening, collections have slid steadily. Despite an extended weekend because of Republic Day, the film is headed towards doom – average to flop depending on the next few days.
Trade experts have ruled out a Baghban -type gradual pick-up. Last year, Baghban had opened dismally, but shot up over four weeks to be one of the biggest gold mines of the year.

There is no such hope for Khakee , for which even the post-mortem is over, since action thrillers make most money in the first week, unlike a family drama like Baghban .
