Silchar (Assam), Sept 09: Four Hmar Peoples' Convention (Democrat) militants were killed and another injured in an encounter with security forces in Jinam valley area of n c hills district last night, official sources said here today. Acting on specific information that a group of HPC(D) ultras had taken shelter in the area, troops of 11 Garhwal Rifles cordoned off the whole area and asked the militants to surrender. The militants refused and opened fire. The troops retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, which lasted for more than 30 minutes, four ultras were killed. Another militant was injured but managed to escape with the help of his accomplices, the sources said.

The security personnel recovered an ak-47 rifle, three SBBL guns and some rounds of ammunition from the site, the sources added. Bureau Report
