Gwalior, June 25: The BJP today congratulated Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his visit to China and said its "successful outcome" was yet another example of "farsighted and creative" foreign policy of the NDA government. Expressing its happiness over the successful conclusion of talks between Vajpayee and the Chinese leadership, the BJP central office bearers at a meeting here said this would help improve Sino-India relations and open a new era of cooperation between the two largest countries of the world. The meeting, presided over by party president Venkaiah Naidu and at which Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani was also present, in a resolution said the agreements signed at Beijing during the visit have laid the "firm foundation" for comprehensive relationship between India and China. It said major initiatives have been agreed upon to cut through differences on principles of the boundary settlement by taking discussions on this matter to a political level.

Talks between the two sides have begun the process of China recognising Sikkim as a state of India by agreeing to open the silk trade route, it said, adding the parleys have also resulted in a mechanism for drawing a blueprint of comprehensive economic partnership.
