New Delhi, Aug 02: On the day when the domestic Indian flagship carrier is celebrating its Golden Jubilee on Friday, the government has given additional charge of Air-India to Indian Airlines CMD Sunil Arora. According to official sources, Arora would simultaneously hold charge of managing director of Air-India.

Arora would take over from J N Gogoi, whose six-month extension as the acting MD since 2001, ended on Thursday. Gogoi had joined Air-India in 1969.
His appointment assumes significance as both Air-India and Indian Airlines are in the process of expanding their fleet. Also his appointment is likely to strengthen synergy between the domestic and international carriers. Bureau Report
