Mumbai, Dec 08: The special investigation team today arrested, under a stringent law, former deputy superintendent of stamps Babanrao Tukaram Ranjane on the charge of conniving with the syndicate of prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, SIT sources said. Ranjane, who was arrested under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) here, would be produced in a Pune court tomorrow.
He retired as deputy superintendent of stamps in February last year. He was posted in Mumbai, SIT sources said.
Ranjane is alleged to have forged links with the syndicate run by Telgi.
