Fatehgarh Sahib, Feb 17: The Fatehgarh Sahib police claimed to have arrested Gurinder Singh Goldy, alias Soni, a resident of Barnala, in the Burail jailbreak case. Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Shiv Kumar informed media persons that the police arrested Gurinder Singh on the night of February 15 when he was going from a bus stand at Sirhind to the railway station. He said the police has recovered a .32 bore pistol, cartridges from Goldy's possession and registered case under Section 25 of Arms Act. As per an official release issued by police today, Goldy was also wanted by Bassi Pathana police, who registered a case against him on February 12 under Section 124-A, 153-A of IPC, Section 25 of Arms Act and Explosive Act as he, a day before Burial jail break, had informed his other accomplices after organising a meeting in Bassi Pathana that they had enough weapons, which would be used to eliminate top officers and politicians. As per the release, Goldy has close proximity with Jagtar Singh Hawara, who is among the one escapee of Burail jail, and he has taken Rs 70,000 once and Rs 50,000 two times from Sewa Singh of Narwey and Sohan Singh of Germany before the jail break and out of this money he sent Rs 50,000 to Hawara before fleeing from jail so that this money could be used after fleeing from the jail. The SSP said several cases pertaining to fake currency, forgery, docility had already registered against Goldy in various police stations and after investigation other cases would come to light.
